Overview
The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services is to confirm your competence in the job role of nail technician. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a nail technician.
This course will cover the following units:
-Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel
-Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder
-Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
-Enhance and maintain nails using wraps
-Prepare and finish nail overlays using electric files
-Plan and provide airbrush design for nails
2 Days a week for 20 weeks

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a nail technician. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a nail technician. Career opportunities as a nail technician exist in a variety of contexts, including:
- Working in commercial nail and beauty
- Working in a retail concession / nail bar
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This is one of two VTCT qualifications in nail services at Level 3. Whilst both qualifications will qualify you to become a nail technician, this qualification requires you to work in a commercial salon whereby assessments must be carried out on real paying clients in line with commercial service times.
In contrast, the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology has a purpose of preparing you to enter the beauty therapy sector rather than confirming competence in a specific job role. The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
