Overview

This is a course designed for individuals who have experience in cutting men's hair and wish to become an EWC Qualified Barber in order to improve their barbering skills and advance and inherit the EWC way. This course is also perfect gateway for people wanting to take the EWC NVQ Level 3 course but not have already taken the Beginners NVQ 2 course.
Over the period of the course, we will see you though our scissor fundamentals, which will include sectioning, round layers and square layers. After we focus on clipperwork and fading including our standard graduated clipper cut and then progressing onto our zero-fading system. This course won't be covering foil fades.

With each cut and service you will have our expert educators right beside you giving you guidance feedback and support. Along side your training you will also get the chance to watch the expert educators cutting hair and providing services, you will have the chance to ask questions during the service.
Throughout the course we will be assessing you on all haircuts in order to accomplish 2 different qualifications: first one being the VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering and the second is the EWC Diploma in Barbering Level 2 certificate.
We aim to qualify over 500 students every year. Our result driven training method is proven and all hands on practical training. Which means you'll be spending more time training less time in books. EWC expert educators will be beside you at all times to oversee, build confidence, develop your skill set and produce quality results. Classes are between 4 to 8 students, with students of all ages and both genders.

Duration

Full Time: 3 weeks. Monday to Friday 10:00 - 17:00

We accept overseas students visiting on tourist visas and can provide housing options. If you are from a country that is part of the European Union then you likely will be able to travel to the UK without obtaining a separate visa. If you are from outside of the EU then you will need to apply for a tourist travel visa from the UK government, which you can do here: www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

What could this qualification lead to?

Learners who achieve this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Graduate Barber (SRGB) with The Hair Council and join the British Barbers' Association. As a junior barber, learners could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:

  • commercial barber shops or salons
  • specialist African type barber shops/salons
  • independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
  • television, film, theatre and media
  • armed services
  • HM prison service
  • cruise liners
  • hospitals/care homes

Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, learners may choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by completing an advanced apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in barbering, these include:

  • VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering
  • VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies
  • VTCT NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Barbering
